Covid-19 Impact on Delhi university (DU) Students | 2021 DU Covid-19 Condition
DU Students Condition in this Covid Situation!
Hello there, I'm Kallyan, doing B.Com honours from Delhi University (DU), and took admission in the academic year 2021. Being true to you, our classes were meant to start on November 22, 2021, as per DU's guide lines, but now it's November 29 and there is not a single class being held. I'm already confused about my classes, like how they are going to be held, and on top of that, this n number of college groups is confusing me more. I've been added to the team group from the mail I received. Through that team app, many WhatsApp groups are created; some are fake (made by my students), some are made by seniors, and among those, there is one that is real (made by the teacher). No, it's not a problem now, but in the beginning, yes, it was like among those groups, finding that one trusted group that gave legit class updates was a hectic process.
Another problem that I'm facing in this COVID situation is that of study quality. I've noticed a significant deterioration in my academic performance. If I compare my 11th (offline classes) performance to my 12th (online classes) performance, I can tell there is a huge difference in that. While in this lockdown, I tried to learn many other productive things like programming and did some online courses like digital marking, etc., but still, online classes are like a dilemma for my future. And the reason I believe this is that I believe our schools and colleges provide us with opportunities to showcase our skills and motivate us to learn new ones. However, during this lockdown, I haven't had the opportunity to showcase my skills (such as drawing or programming), which demotivates me and prevents me from upgrading those skills or learning new ones. I also feel like my confidence in speaking has decreased. I have gained a lot of confidence on social media platforms (online chat), but I don't think that will help me in the future.
The industries are also well known for the current condition of Delhi University. Now the question is, when I go for the internship or placement, which will get more preference, a student from an online college (DU) or an offline college (any private college). It's not like they don't have options. Yes, there is college placement and internships, but it's not like all students are going to get those, do they?
Luckily, our seniors are protesting the DU reopening, but from the news we are gating, it looks like the third year, or may be the second year, will be allowed to go to the college for the practicals only. The theory will remain online, and on top of that, the new state of Corona is also found. In simple words, going to our respected Delhi University college as a first-year student is still like a dream.
